The Webster Health Department was made aware of a possible cyanobacteria Harmful Algae Bloom at Memorial Beach on Monday August 11, 2025.
Based on visual evidence and in consultation with the Massachusetts Department of Public Health (MA DPH), cyanobacteria is present at North Pond of Webster Lake. However, MA DPH does not consider the algae bloom at levels that would warrant an advisory at this time.
The Health Department and Recreation Department will continue to monitor the waterbody daily to see if conditions intensify or worsen.
Please contact the Health Department at (508) 949-3800 x4002 or email photos to health.department@webster-ma.gov for other possible reports of algae blooms.
