Bike Patrol
The Webster Police Department initiated the Bike Patrol in 1995. The Bike Unit is part of the overall community oriented policing effort. Members of the unit work closely with other community oriented police officers in the areas of crime prevention and education, as well as supporting the uniformed patrol divisions in the enforcement of laws.
The bike patrols are very visible and easily accessed by the residents and businesses on a more personal level. The bicycle patrols are conducted at various times during the months of May through August.
The Webster Police department uses Mongoose mountain bikes equipped with the necessary equipment to perform most patrol functions including emergency first aid if necessary. Bike Patrol has proven to be a great tool in enforcing the law as well as being a deterrent to crime.
